Singh）涉嫌吸毒駕駛大型貨櫃卡車撞上堵車車陣，引發多車相撞與火災。
辛格24日首次出庭，在蘭喬庫卡蒙加（Rancho Cucamonga）法院，面對多項重罪指控時表示不認罪。
聖伯納汀諾縣檢察官辦公室指出，辛格被控三項「吸毒狀態下重大過失殺人罪」（gross vehicular manslaughter
while intoxicated）及一項「吸毒駕駛致傷罪」（driving under the influence of a
drug causing injury）。
他已獲指定公設辯護律師，目前被無保釋羈押。法庭文件顯示，下次開庭日期為11月4日，屆時將提供翻譯。

根據警方與檢方描述，事發當天下午，辛格駕駛一輛Freightliner大型貨櫃卡車，在西向10號公路高速行駛時未及時剎車，猛撞前方因交通堵塞而停下的車輛，引發連環相撞與起火。
共有八輛車捲入事故，其中包括四輛商用車輛。遇難者包括一名波莫那高中籃球教練及其妻子，以及另一名私家車駕駛人。車禍現場一度火勢猛烈，車輛殘骸散落一地，警方形容為「龐大且混亂的災難現場」。
國土安全部（DHS）證實，辛格為2022年經美墨邊境非法入境的印度公民，目前已對其發出移民拘留令（immigration
detainer）。移民及海關執法局（ICE）表示，這起悲劇「凸顯非法移民駕駛商用車輛對公共安全構成的嚴重威脅」。
事故也引發外界對加州商業駕駛執照（CDL）審核制度的強烈質疑。美國交通部（DOT）指出，辛格在6月27日獲得加州核發的「非居留商業駕駛執照」（non-domiciled

但根據9月26日生效的聯邦新規，所有庇護申請者應被禁止持有或更新此類執照。交通部批評加州車輛管理局（DMV）「未依照緊急標準」，在辛格21歲生日（10月15日）後錯誤地解除限制並升級其駕照，間接促成這起悲劇。
聯邦運輸部長達菲（Sean Duffy）表示：「這起事件正是我們發布緊急禁令以防止類似司機駕駛商用車輛的原因。」
交通部在聲明中指出，曾明確警告加州州長加文·紐森（Gavin Newsom），其CDL發照系統存在「嚴重漏洞」。
對此，紐森辦公室回應稱，辛格的聯邦就業許可系由聯邦政府多次批准和續期，州政府依聯邦法發照並無不當：「此事件固然悲劇，但部分聯邦官員企圖藉機曲解事實以謀取政治利益。」
目前，警方仍在等待辛格的毒品檢測結果，以確定其吸食物質及血液酒精濃度。案件仍在進一步調查中。
