荷蘭村莊Meteren周四（10月30日）發生一宗離奇交通意外，一部大型貨車在平交道上「車前倒後」，直至平交道欄杆放下仍未離開，導致欄杆損壞，隨後與一部高速行駛的火車撞個正著，在這一瞬間，貨車載貨後車廂被撞爛。事件導致5人輕傷。
《每日郵報》報道，事發於周四上午11點30分左右，閉路電視畫面顯示，這部載有梨子的貨車抵達一個平交道後，原本快要通過平交道，未知為何突然向後退，然後快要離開平交道的時候，平交道欄杆準備降下，貨車未有繼續後退，反而又突然向前開了幾步路路程，又停下。
影片顯示，平交道欄杆因此卡在貨車身上無法降下，直至火車快抵達之際，貨車才向前駛去，但它未來得及離開，後車廂遭高速駛來的火車撞至粉碎、解體。事件導致貨車上的5人受輕傷，以及火車上的400名乘客被安全疏散。
